Understanding Spaces
Spaces help organize your site hierarchy and manage interval data submeters without affecting main site totals.
They provide an optional layer between sites and submeters preventing double counting.
What spaces do
- Organize your hierarchy by grouping submeters in a clean, structured way.
- Separate interval data submeters so their usage doesn’t blend with site-level totals.
- Prevent double counting by keeping interval rollups isolated to the correct level.
How data rolls up
- Interval data rolls up only to the space, not to the site.
- Utility bill data continues to roll up normally through the hierarchy (to the site and above).
This design ensures your bill-based totals remain accurate while interval data stays segmented.
Where you can use spaces
- Spaces are valid top-level filters in widgets and reports, making them useful for targeted analysis.
- You can filter dashboards and reports by a single Space to focus on specific submeters or groups.
Rules for using spaces
- A Space can only exist under a site.
- Spaces cannot be nested under other spaces.
- Use one or multiple spaces under a site depending on how you need to organize interval data meters.
- You can enter an optional area and effective date for the space.
